Ainara Garcia Navarro

Ainara Garcia Navarro – teacher Dutch National Ballet Academy

Ainara studied ballet in her native country Spain, with the well-known teacher María de Avila. After graduation from the Real Conservatorio de Música y Danza de Madrid, Ainara won a scholarship to study for one year in the Escuela Nacional De Ballet de Cuba. Here she also obtained a diploma.

As a professional dancer Ainara joined the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam in 1998, and danced there until 2009.

After 11 years with Dutch National Ballet, Ainara continued her career in Ballett am Rhein (Düsseldorf, Germany), where she worked with choreographer Martin Schläpfer.

Ainara has performed a wide range of roles in both classical and contemporary repertoire, including works by George Balanchine, Rudi van Dantzig, Hans van Manen, William Forsythe, Martin Schläpfer, and others.

As a teacher Ainara has taught in different schools in the Netherlands and abroad, Henny Jurriëns Foundation (Amsterdam), Oper Graz (Graz, Austria), Junior Company HNB (Amsterdam) and Codarts (Rotterdam). She has also worked as a ballet master in the production “Narnia: de leeuw, de heks en de kleerkast”, a collaboration between Junior Company HNB and ISH (choreography of Ernst Meisner and Marco Gerris). Currently Ainara is a faculty member of NBA.
