Are you an organising wiz? And have a passion for music, theatre, dance, musicals, music theatre and festivals? Then the four-year Production and Stage Management (OPP) study programme could be just the thing for you. OPP trains you to become an all-round producer in the performing arts. During studies you can gravitate towards the profession of producer, (junior) administrator, production manager, assistant director, tour manager and many other challenging roles. Throughout the four years, you are in direct contact with the work field. And after graduation, you are guaranteed a job in the cultural sector thanks to the excellent reputation of the OPP programme.

What do you learn?

The OPP is unique in the Netherlands. No other Dutch study programme focuses on this profession in the performing arts. We teach you to become a skilled organiser and creative entrepreneur in the cultural field.
The programme teaches you to be pro-active and creative in solving problems. You learn to develop communication skills, so as to lead the diverse experts in an artistic team. How do you set conditions for implementing an artistic idea? How do you share this info with those concerned, from director to scenographer, from lighting designer to actor, from technician to multi-media specialist? How do you ensure that a team can optimally develop and realise an idea? How do you speak the same language of not only the director, but also the technicians and the business manager?

The OPP offers you an excellent combination of theory and practice. You not only learn about financing, organising and executing plans, but also discover the artistic content side of producing. Already during your first year, you follow internships at exciting organisations and ensembles. This way you immediately become acquainted with (inter)national practices and establish contacts with an extensive network. You learn to develop your talents to become a producer with a personal vision regarding the impact of the performing arts on contemporary society. You assume the role of equal partner for a wide  variety of performing artists during the creative process; you are a professional for whom the artistic vision plays a leading role in the production process.

Attention!
The language of the Theatre Department is Dutch. In order to function up to the mark in the classes, foreign students are required to speak, write and read Dutch. For more information about application we refer to the Dutch website.
