In the lecture series ‘Vision’ of the master DAS Creative Producing, Josien Pieterse and Yazan Khalili will give a lecture about their work on Sunday, February 13 at 11.00h-13.00h. In the light of the municipal elections, this February lecture will focus on art and politics. This lecture is in collaboration with Adyen. Josien Pieterse is co-founder and co-director of Framer Framed. Framer Framed is a platform for art and culture, with an exhibition space in Amsterdam. The exhibitions are at the intersection of contemporary art, visual culture and politics. The exhibitions show work of known and unknown artists who are active worldwide and relate to social issues. Josien Pieterse was also founder and for ten years director of Netwerk Democratie, Platform for Democratic Innovation. In 2014 she received the oeuvre prize 'Radical Innovators' from Vrij Nederland for her work with Netwerk Democratie. From 2007-2017 Josien worked as an oral historian and researcher at Atria, knowledge institute for emancipation and women's history. Josien directed two documentaries on the women's movement: Fem.doc (2002) on the legacy of the second feminist wave and Women's Aid - discovering and renewing (2008) on the rise of the women's aid movement.

Yazan Khalili lives and works in and out of Palestine. He is an architect, visual artist, and cultural producer. Currently he is a Phd candidate at Amsterdam School of Cultural Analysis, University of Amsterdam, and a guest artist resident at Rijksakademie. His works have been exhibited in several major solo and collective exhibitions, including at KW, Berlin (2020); MoCA-Toronto (2020); New Photography, MoMA (2018) He is the co-chair of photography discipline at the MFA program at Bard, NY, and co-founder of Radio Alhara. From 2015 to the end of 2019, he was the director of the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center. Housed in a renovated house from the early twentieth century, the KSCC promotes Palestinian cultural work through various programs that include exhibitions, lectures, film screenings and workshops.
