Dutch National Ballet principals Igone de Jongh and Vito Mazzeo will soon be starting work with National Ballet Academy students on the fine-tuning of the duet Replay. The pas de deux was created especially for them in 2014 by choreographer and artistic director Ted Brandsen and will form part of the end-of-year performance Dancers of Tomorrow. To mark the 30th anniversary of our school, the theme of this season’s performance will be Dutch dance.

In recent months, the students have already been learning the choreography of Replay from teacher Simona Ferrazza. Igone de Jongh and Vito Mazzeo will now be talking about their experience of the duet and putting the finishing touches to the piece in rehearsals. It is, of course, a unique opportunity for our students to be able to work with these two stars.

Next season, the National Ballet Academy is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary, and for the occasion we are presenting a special, practically all-Dutch edition of Dancers of Tomorrow. Besides Brandsen’s Replay, the programme will include works by Nils Christe, Rudi van Dantzig, our patron Hans van Manen, Toer van Schayk and Ernst Meisner (coordinator of the Junior Company). The latter will also be creating a new finale ballet for all the pupils and students.

The only ‘foreign’ element in this anniversary edition is the Dutch premiere of Scènes de Ballet by the British choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, who is in great demand all over the world. We are very proud to be able to add this ballet to our repertoire.
