About the Henny Kamerman Dansersprijs
Henny Kamerman Dansersprijs is the prize for the most outstanding dancer/maker/teacher of the past academic year. The award is named after Henny Kamerman, who from the late 80s to 2002 built up and led the jazz theatre and show musical dance program (later called UC/JMD). Within the established dance world of modern and classical, she managed to create an academic basis for jazz dance. Her energy and contrarianism in the dance world are taken into account by the jury.
The Henny Kamerman Dancers Prize was awarded for the first time in 2021 to the last classes of the dance courses Modern Theatre Dance and Urban Contemporary/JMD. In 2022, the Henny Kamerman Dancer Prize went to Jinko Adams, a graduate of the Urban Contemporary (JMD) programme. In 2023, the Henny Kamerman Dancer Prize went to Tim Vervenne, a graduate of the Docent Dance (DD) programme.
