Stephan van Dijk
Stephan has a diverse background in visual arts and dance/performance. Since completing his Alexander Technique training in 2001, he runs a private practice on the Brouwersgracht in Amsterdam He also serves as a teacher and moderator at the Alexander Technique vocational training. Since 2006, Stephan has integrated the Alexander Technique into his swimming lessons, both individual and group sessions, leading to the creation of the water school Vrijzwemmen in 2012. Vrijzwemmen offers a two-year diploma program for children starting at age 5, helping them become confident and skilled swimmers through weekly lessons based on the Alexander Technique. The school also provides weekly adult courses in various swimming strokes, as well as classes focused on learning to connect with water.
Since 2021, Stephan has been teaching the Alexander Technique at the ECD and regularly offers introductory courses at the music department of Codarts in Rotterdam. He has also taught workshops for several institutions, including DasArts, the Jan van Eijck Academie, and the Royal Dutch Athletics Union.
