Change Now: How do we change theatre schools? in Warsaw, March 2023

Change Now is a 3-year, Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships project on social safety and inclusion in theatre education led by Academy of Dramatic Art, Warsaw, in alliance with 4 other European schools including the Academy of Theatre and Dance (ATD). 5 students from the ATD (3 Bachelors and 2 Masters) have participated in the international 2-year programme that forms the core of the research. 

During the project, staff and students have participated in 4 week long sessions: the kick off led by Giessen (September 2021); the Amsterdam session hosted by the ATD Lectorate(July 2022); the Paris sessionat the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique (CNSAD)(November 2022) and the final session and conference How do we change theatre schools? hosted in Warsaw (March 2023)

At the Warsaw conference, presentations were given by the Lector and THIRD tutor Rajni Shah; by ATD teacher-researchers, Carly Everaert and Mira Thompson on the Access Intimacy project; and by THIRD Fellow and co-founder of the IPOP project, Szymon Adamczak. The presenters have also contributed texts to a final online publication being co-edited by the Lector and published in August 2023, together with texts written by other ATD colleagues: Bojana Mladenović, Joy Mariama Smith, Elioa Steffen, Aster Arribas and Antje Nestel. 

As part of the project, SNDO student Ciro Goudsmit was also selected to have his work produced by a major Polish theatre. Ciro’s piece Sonic Portals: A subwoofer odysseywas performed at STUDIO Teatrgaleria in Warsaw from February 17-19 2023.
