John studied History at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and started to work in the cultural field during and after his studies, mainly as production/stage/location manager for several festivals and theatre companies (USVA Cultural Student Centre, Noorderzon, Theater te Water, Bevrijdingsfestival Groningen, A Star is Born, Joop van den Ende Theaterproducties).
Since 2001 he is working for DasArts/DAS Theatre. First as office manager, since 2015 as coordinator of the Educational Platform and since 2020 as programme coordinator. As programme coordinator he works together with the team and tutors on the (financial) planning and organization of the educational programme and informs possible future students about the programme
Next to this, John is working as the financial coordinator of the entire DAS Graduate School, and is treasurer of the DasArts Trust Fund and treasurer of the foundation board of Feikes Huis (production house for visual theatre).
