Last month, Stichting Dansersfonds ’79 awarded eight scholarships, four of which went to Dutch National Ballet Academy students: Liselotte van Doorn (17), Orla Sumner (15), Luc Smith (15) and Jacob Wysny (15). Like the other winners, the four students were selected during a public class, given this time by Simon de Mowbray.
This year’s jury comprised Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar, founders of the Dansersfonds, as well as Scapino ballet master Bonnie Doets, former dancer and dance critic Ine Rietstap and – standing in for some absent jury members – dance publicist Astrid van Leeuwen. The scholarship winners must spend the scholarship amount of 2,500 Euros on their further development as a dancer, preferably on international courses or apprenticeships.
