We are deeply sad that our dear former colleague - and friend to many of us - Jan Zoet passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Jan Zoet was director of the Academy of Theatre and Dance (ATD) from April 1, 2013 to February 1, 2020.  

Jan led the ATD in an enthusiastic, inspiring and personal manner for seven years. From 2020-2024, Jan Zoet was director of the Amare cultural complex in The Hague.  

Much was achieved under Jan’s leadership in the period 2013-2020. The establishment of various study programmes, a new building for the DAS master courses and the ATD Lectorate in Amsterdam-Noord, the new name for our school: Academy of Theatre and Dance, to name just a few examples. All of this was done in his typical style: with a great deal of enthusiasm and drive, but also with humor and the ability to put things into perspective. In this way he built stronger connections within the academy and with the outside world. We are extremely grateful to him for this.  

Our thoughts go out to his wife Nicole, his son Jimi, his family and his loved ones.
