Friday 10 March 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the passing of André Veltkamp, former director of de Theaterschool (now: Academy of Theatre and Dance), at the age of 67. André led de Theaterschool between 1997 and 2010. During this period, the current building located at the Jodenbreestraat was put into use and the study programmes started to work together much more intensively.

The fact that today's Academy of Theatre and Dance has the character of a school where students from all disciplines and diverse backgrounds can meet and work together is largely attributable to André Veltkamp.
