In Memoriam Fer Smidt

Published on

It is with sadness and great regret that we learned of the death of our friend and colleague Fer Smidt during spring break.

Fer Smidt worked as a designer and supervisor for the students at the Costume Workshop of the Academy of Theater and Dance since 2004. Fer was an artist. He had the gift of being a good listener and collaborating with the students, teachers and artistic directors of our academy. He translated the ideas and wishes of directors and choreographers into beautiful designs.

Fer specialized in dyeing fabrics and costumes, a craft he taught our students. Fer was a universal person, he had a great cultural knowledge, loved travelling, cooking and classical music. The digital world was no stranger to him either. During the corona period, Fer worked on and completed the digitization of the Costume Workshop.

Our thoughts go out first and foremost to Fer's family and dear friends. In addition, we sympathize with his colleagues from the Costume Workshop who unexpectedly lost a highly valued colleague and dear friend.

A memorial place for Fer has been set up in the Costume Workshop space on the fourth floor. Everyone is welcome to commemorate him.
