Expanding the outreach programme

Published on

There will also be further expansion of the National Ballet Academy’s outreach programme in the coming season. In October and November, there will be a special boys’ course for all boys aged 7 to 11 who enjoy dancing, and from October there will be a series of Teacher Seminars for ballet teachers from amateur schools all over the Netherlands.

Boys’ course 2019
The boys’ course that the National Ballet Academy is introducing in the coming school year consists of a number of varied and fun lessons that focus on enjoying dance. The styles covered include ballet, world dance, urban and acrobatics. For the urban classes, the academy is collaborating with ISH Dance Collective (which collaborated with the Dutch National Ballet’s Junior Company on the productions Narnia and GRIMM), and for the acrobatics classes with Turnz Amsterdam Gymnastics. The classes will be held on six Saturdays in the autumn of 2019, in the National Ballet Academy studios. The boys will also watch a class at Dutch National Ballet.

Dates: 5, 12 and 26 October, 2, 9 and 16 November.

Teacher Seminars
On five Sundays spread throughout the school year, in the period from October to the end of March, the National Ballet Academy is organising a series of Teacher Seminars. The sessions are intended for both experienced and beginner ballet teachers, with the aim of increasing their knowledge and insight, and giving them new inspiration for their classical lessons. The seminars are given by teachers from the National Ballet Academy. Following a morning class for the participants, there are workshops on various themes, such as preparing for an audition for the ballet academy, discipline versus dancing for fun, boys’ classes, musicality and technique, pointework for beginners, and port de bras and épaulement. Further information will follow shortly on our website.
