The farewell party held for student counselor, Pauline Beran on 19 April, also saw the festive launch of the Jan Kassies Fund. In the last months before her retirement, Pauline took the initiative for establishing the Fund, which was set up to help talented students complete their study.

Theaterschool students added a festive touch to the launch of the Fund during Pauline’s send-off. Tonje Langeveld who graduated from the Drama & Contemporary Music Theatre Study Programme and the Theatre Director Study Programme, explained to the public how important financial support had been for her in completing her study. Dionne Verwey, final year student of the Mime School, performed a hilarious solo that mocked prevalent clichés. SNDO students excelled in the rebellious group choreography The Attempt by Clara Saito in which the public and performers pelt each other with plugs of paper.

As introduction to the official launch of the Jan Kasssies Fund, theatre critic and dramaturge Loek Zonneveld gave a brief biographical sketch of the namesake of the Fund, founder and first director of de Theaterschool, Jan Kassies. Pauline Beran personally gave the starting signal for liberal donations to the Jan Kassies Fund by activating a conveyor belt on stage with euro coins that clattered into a metal container, persuading the public to give generously. Subsequently, Rutger Hamelynck, Manager Corporate Sponsoring and Business Events with the ING Group, held a pep talk on sponsor recruitment.

On 19 April the invited guests laid the basis for the Fund. You can also help today’s young talent. Each euro you give goes directly to them. The Stichting  Fondsen de Theaterschool is an ‘Institution For General Benefit’ (Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling - ANBI). This means your donation is fully or partly tax deductible. Through the Geefwet (Donation Act) you can maximize your fiscal advantages.
