IDlab is working with partners and training from the new school year on the Zones of Conflict project. From 7 September to 16 September, IDlab will launch a collaborative project with Transversal Theatre Company (TTC)and the University of California, Irvine. Guests include professor Bryan Reynolds and peace builder Raffi Feghali. In addition to two workshops and lectures, Transversal Theatre will present Anatomy of a Home and Interview the Dead on 14 and 15 September.
'In this talk I share some of my experiences researching and making political-engaged performances in collaboration with local artists and activists at various research sites in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. I discuss our challenges, resolutions, failures, and successes. In the end, I hope that from what I share from my experiences, others can more easily pursue similar kinds of projects, should this be of interest. For various reasons, economical as well as practical, the pros and cons of which I will discuss, my approach has emphasized intensity over duration, deeper immersive ethnographic over sustained participant-observer involvement. Every approach has its benefits and drawbacks, so a goal of my work over the fifteen years has been to discover effective ways to collaborate and maximize impact with minimum resources.'
Location: IDlab, Academy of Theatre and Dance, 5th floor
