The 16 April lecture will be partly in English (Bogomir) and Dutch (Cinekid/Rietwijker and the Q&A).
On Sunday morning, April 16, we will have a conversation with organizations working in and with the community of Amsterdam North. Among others, we will speak with Bogomir Doringer of the NXT Museum in Amsterdam Noord, Hidde de Vries en Richard Soesanna of Cinekid and Fallery Monk of Verdedig Noord / de Rietwijker. In this lecture we will focus on art and community. These three organizations each have their own origin and have been located in Amsterdam Noord only recently or for an extended period of time. We will hear more about their work and explore the connection between the organizations and the community and how they influence each other.

NXT Museum
Nxt Museum is the first museum in the Netherlands to focus entirely on media art. They exhibit artworks that use modern technologies of the present and future. Because art reflects the spirit of the times, they believe that the most innovative art gives us the opportunity to reflect on the impact of technological developments. A moment of reflection in a reality that continues to evolve faster and faster.
Curator and head of education and research at the NXT Museum is Bogomir Doringer (Serbia/The Netherlands). Bogomir is an artist-researcher and curator. He specializes in socio-politics of collective movements in night culture and clubbing - as a lens through which to observe the social phenomenon manifested in people and their bodies.
Cinekid
Since 2021, Cinekid has moved from the Westergasfabriek site to Buikslotermeerplein in Amsterdam Noord. They are one of the newcomers to the neighborhood in a place at the start of a major development.
Cinekid aims to amaze, entertain, connect and contribute to the development of children into independent, conscious and thoughtful world citizens. Cinekid presents, produces, teaches and communicates with, through and about film and moving images in a language that connects with children. They are also the platform for (international) children's film productions. With Hidde de Vries and Richard Soesanna we talk about how they do that specifically in Noord.
De Rietwijker / Verdedig Noord
As of January 1, 2022, Verdedig Noord has the coordinating role in former community center and theater the Rietwijker. It develops a broad palette of activities that emerge from the wishes of local residents and match the knowledge and expertise of the people within Verdedig Noord. There is a diverse range of artistic, cultural, recreational, informational and educational activities. This ensures a broad representation of the neighborhood and allows residents to get to know each other well. The Rietwijker aims to be a place where residents also have a sense of co-ownership, where their voices have value and are heard.
Fallery Monk of Verdedig Noord/de Rietwijker will take us through how this role of Verdedig Noord/de Rietwijker is shaped.
After the lecture, for those interested in the master's program DAS Creative Producing there will be time to ask questions to students and teachers. For more information, go to our website.
Deadline to register for the master's program: 19 April 2023.

About the collaboration between Adyen and the Academy for Theatre and Dance
In 2022, Adyen and the Academy for Theater and Dance will launch a special collaboration to provide a space for inspiration, reflection, and action in the heart of the city of Amsterdam.
The company Adyen was founded in 2006, in the center of Amsterdam, by a group of Dutch entrepreneurs. Adyen is a payment platform that processes payments for leading companies around the world. It currently has more than 2,000 employees and 27 offices around the world. In 2021, Adyen opened additional office space on the Rokin, in the same city center where the company's journey began. In collaboration with the Academy of Theater and Dance, the company is opening its offices to Amsterdam residents to connect with, and give back to, the city of Amsterdam. Within its education, the academy explores the ways in which art can contribute to shaping the world, based on the firm belief that art can set people and the world in motion.
