What you’ll get from this session
So, now you’re an entrepreneur. It’s very different from being an employee. What are the risks, and how can you protect yourself against them? We’ll be looking at all sorts of risks, like postponed jobs, delayed payments, sudden illness and loss-making investments. Forewarned is forearmed.

About Nico Beltman
Nico is a lawyer based in Amsterdam. He began his career with the Kunstenbond union for artists, and has always done lots of work with artists and performers ever since. Alongside his work as a lawyer, Nico is a professional trainer at the Orde van Advocaten, the Dutch bar association. Throughout his career he has observed that many artists don’t feel at ease with the business side of their work, and are unsure of themselves in this area. But it doesn’t have to be that way. With the right basic knowledge, an artist can be alert to the chance that things can go wrong. Knowledge is power, and prevention is better than a cure.

The teacher will tell you everything you need to know when starting up, opening the doors to a new world. We provide the pen and paper, so you can note down all the tips and tricks.

Get to work
Roll up your sleeves, because we’re going put what you’ve learned into practice right away. Sometimes the teacher will ask you to work with a specific case study, but usually you’ll be applying it to your own situation.

21:30-22:00      Chill and chat
The bar is open! You’re welcome to stay and connect with fellow students or put questions to your teacher.
