In this December lecture, 2021 Prince Claus Seed Awardee Sunday Ozegbe Obiajulu 'Valu' will talk about his work as a choreographer, dancer and activist. In addition, the event features a conversation with 2021 Seed Awardee Mamy Victory & Defa (together forming the duo Def Maa Maa Def), Ella John, Josephine Zwaan, Marassa and Crystal Chanay, who participated in a 'writers camp' organised by OSCAM earlier this year.

Sunday Obiajulu Ozegbe - aka VALU - is a dancer, activist and creative from Nigeria, trained by the QDANCE CENTER, Lagos. He is founder and artistic director of Ennovate Dance House, a collective of dancers and movement artists based in Lagos, working on social issues. Sunday is also co-curator of the Footprints of David Arts Festival in Nigeria. In 2017, Sunday was selected for training in artistic activism at the Center for Artistic Activism, New York. Through his work, he focuses on fusing performance with community development, bringing forward the style of dance activism.

Faye Ndeye Penda - aka Mamy Victory - is an artist and rapper from Senegal. She has collaborated with several artists and won the "Best Female Artist" award at the Galsen Hip Hop Awards for her EP "Feem". In the male-dominated rap industry, Mamy Victory focuses on gender equality and female leadership to inspire girls and women in Senegal and beyond.

The Prince Claus Fund was established on 6 September 1996 as a tribute to HRH Prince Claus' dedication to culture and his belief in its role in the development of all societies. Their mission is to support, honour and connect artists and cultural practitioners in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe, especially where cultural expression is under pressure. Their vision is that of a world where cultural expression is freely and valued.
In 2022, Adyen and the Academy for Theatre and Dance will launch a special collaboration to provide a space for inspiration, reflection and action in the heart of the city of Amsterdam. This lecture is in collaboration with Adyen. The company Adyen was founded in 2006, in the city center of Amsterdam, by a group of Dutch entrepreneurs. Adyen is a payments platform that processes for leading companies around the world. Currently, the organization has more than 2000 employees and 27 offices around the world. In 2021, Adyen opened additional office space at the Rokin, in the same city center where the company’s journey began. To engage with, and give back to, the city of Amsterdam, the company opens up its offices for Amsterdammers in collaboration with the Academy of Theatre and Dance. Within its education, the academy explores the ways in which art can contribute to shaping the world, based on a firm belief that art can set people and realities in motion and has, for some time, wished to present themselves outside the university walls.
