What you’ll get from this session
What’s the best way of receiving payment for your work? Do you want to be an employee or a freelancer, or would you rather have a payroll company take care of everything? This evening you’ll find out all the pros and cons of each option, and by the end you’ll have a clear idea of what’s best for your situation. You’ll also receive a clear step-by-step plan on the best approach for you.
About and Ezra Bredius and Rutger Gernandt
This evening’s experts are Rutger Gernandt and Ezra Bredius.
Rutger Gernandt is the business director at De Warme Winkel theatre company, having previously held the same position at Ulrike Quade Company. He is also a board member at several organisations including Sociaal Fonds Podiumkunsten, the social fund for the performing arts. Rutger studied drumming at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague followed by business administration; he enjoys bringing art and business affairs closer together.
Ezra Bredius is the assistant business director at De Warme Winkel theatre company, and business director at 't Barre Land theatre company. She also operates independently and through the Janivo Fund, mentoring young practitioners through their artistic and business development.

Roll up your sleeves, because we’re going put what you’ve learned into practice right away. Sometimes the teacher will ask you to work with a specific case study, but usually you’ll be applying it to your own situation.
Chill and chat
The bar is open! You’re welcome to stay and connect with fellow students or put questions to your teacher.

- Free for current students and recent graduates (from 2019 onwards).
- € 12.50 for AHK alumni who graduated before 2019.
- € 15.00 for non-AHK participants.
