If you want to make a living through your passion, come along to the Starterscafé! Every week, we take a deep dive into the do’s and don’ts of doing business. That means bookkeeping, setting your rates, applying for funding, taxes, building your portfolio and raising your profile. At the AHK Starterscafé we’ll show the right way – the smart way – to get off to a flying start. It’s free for currents students and recent graduates! Want to join us? 

The AHK Starterscafé is a pop-up café in AHK Culture Club, full of extra-curricular workshops. Grab a drink at the bar and get to know current and former students who – just like you- want to live from their creativity. At 7pm an inspiring teacher will start sharing all the tricks of the trade. Monday in English, Tuesday in Dutch. The agenda items below tell you what is going on the upcoming months. Register now!

What you’ll get from this session?
How does your idea become a concrete concept? What do you make for whom and why? Your concept is the backbone of your project plan. It is the foundation on which you will build. This evening you will be given the tools and you will practice expressing your ideas in a systematic way.  The result? A concrete concept that you can use to further develop your project plan.

About Wendy van Os
The lecturer is Wendy van Os. As program coordinator, Wendy is closely involved with the Starters café. In fact, she is at the basis of this concept! She is a concept creator, programmer and part-time showcaller. She works a.o. for the Theater Festival, Kunsten '92 and The School of Life. In 2018 Wendy received the Anne Faber Stipendium, a scholarship for talented business leaders and creative producers in the theater sector.

19:00-21:30     Tips & tricks 
The teacher will tell you everything you need to know when starting up, opening the doors to a new world. We provide the pen and paper, so you can note down all the tips and tricks. 

Get to work
Roll up your sleeves, because we’re going put what you’ve learned into practice right away. Sometimes the teacher will ask you to work with a specific case study, but usually you’ll be applying it to your own situation. 

21:30-22:00     Chill and chat
The bar is open! You’re welcome to stay and connect with fellow students or put questions to your teacher.

- Free for current students and recent graduates (from 2019 onwards). 
- € 12.50 for AHK alumni who graduated before 2019. 
- € 15.00 for non-AHK participants.
