Liat Waysbort

Liat Waysbort (Israel, 1974) is a choreographer, a dance teacher and a coach.
Liat set up Bitter Sweet Dance in 2015 in the Netherlands. Her powerful, sensorial and physical productions are fuelled by acute social topics. Bitter Sweet Dance undermines clichés concerning age, gender and physicality, expands definitions of beauty and makes all aspects of human life tangible. The foundation’s small, but ambitious female team existing of artistic associates Annette van Zwoll and Liat Waysbort.

Liat has a strong activist attitude, using an exquisite physical language. Her way of making and guiding is using the individual prospective in its diversity.

Liat worked for ten years as a dancer and rehearsal director at the famous Batsheva Dance Company. Alongside Ohad, she worked with choreographers like William Forsythe and Wim Vandekeybus.

Her desire to create work of her own brought her to the Netherlands, where she obtained a Master in Choreography from Codarts, Rotterdam in 2006. She then made her first works, among others Reality is Shaped by Recalling and What’s Left at Dansateliers Rotterdam and created choreographies for a range of Dutch companies, such as Dansgroep Amsterdam, Conny Janssen Danst and De Meekers/Maas Theater en Dans. Liat operates in a large professional national and international network.
