Liane Simmel

Liane Simmel, MD, is a medical doctor, osteopath, sport psychology coach and professional dancer. For over three decades she has been dancing on European stages, besides studying and working in medicine and osteopathy. Today she runs her medical practice in Munich. As director of the institute for dance medicine “Fit for Dance” she is specialized in prevention and therapy for dancers. Liane Simmel is honorary professor for dance medicine at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and a permanent guest lecturer at the Palucca University of Dance, Dresden, as well as at the Zurich University of the Arts.

She is a founding member and has over many years been president of ta.med, Tanzmedizin Deutschland, the German dance medicine organisation. Her books "Dance Medicine in Practice" and "Nutrition for Dancers" have been published in several languages and have

become standard literature for applied dance medicine. For her pioneering work in the realm of dance medicine she was awarded the Prize of Recognition of the German Dance Prizes 2016. Since 2019 Liane Simmel has been a jury member for freelance dance professionals of the Munich Department of Culture.
