Andrew Greenwood

Founder of Switch2moveI thrive on educating, motivating and inspiring people to understand the value and the relationship between the body, movement, and life.
Over the years as a professional dancer and international ballet master, I have experienced at first hand the moments of struggle, growth, maturity and glory that come together when one is engaging to dance, be it professionally or pure hobby.

Seven years ago I dedicated a big part of my work in Dancer’s health (injury prevention & rehabilitation), offering guidance in how dancers can enhance their personal well-being, physically and mentally. That would provide the foundations of knowledge and assist me in my unexpected turn of events where I am now. To discover that not only “Dance needs Health but Health needs dance”.

Creating Cultures of Care from my artistic perspective. A contribution to the transformation of care and welfare, by creating open expertise networks. Transdisciplinary co-creation' to work on new practices and concepts of care. Good care in the future is a social responsibility that cannot alone be solved by institutions. Culture/Art are not the final solution, but a great tool to create a discussion.

Almost 800 million people suffer from mental health disorders worldwide. There is no question when one looks at these global figures. There is a need for a transition in some of the classical approaches used in healthcare. How can the arts contribute to easing the 21st burden concerning these topics? My organization has been implementing and developing “Non-pharmacological Complementary Interventions.” Above all, a topic I’m passionate about. Art is an economically viable product which can assist in reducing the financial social burden of care.
