Maria Toko

MARIA TOKO is een multipotentialist, zij beweegt in meerdere velden en neemt hierin diverse rollen aan. Zij is professioneel performer en maker in podiumkunsten, public speaker, bestuurder, community builder, pionier en een familiemens. Als voorzitter en medeoprichter van studentenvereniging Tribez ziet zij dagelijks het belang van self-love , empowerment en education in de Zwarte community. Als jonge leider weet zij impact te maken op zowel haar generatie als oudere en jongere generaties.

Maria heeft opdrachten uitgevoerd voor diverse kunstinstellingen, onderwijsinstellingen en overheidsorganisaties zoals Het Nationale Theater, De Haagse Hogeschool en het Ministerie van Onderwijs Cultuur en Wetenschap. Zij is daarnaast projectmatig werkzaam als trainer voor bedrijven en organisaties zoals AKQA en Het Landelijk Studenten Vakbond. Ook is ze als ECHO Ambassadeur en LSVb commissielid van werkgroep DI verbonden met diverse thema’s rond diversiteit en inclusie in de maatschappij.

Zij studeert dit jaar af aan de bachelor European Studies met een afstudeeronderzoek over het gebruik van artistieke interventies om inclusief leiderschap te bevorderen. Parallel daaraan begint zij haar master Creative Producing en is zij werkzaam als projectleider bij Het Nationale Theater.

Maria Toko is a multipotentialist, she moves in several fields and takes on various roles. She is a professional performer and maker in the performing arts, public speaker, administrator, community builder, pioneer and a family person. As chairwoman and co-founder of student association Tribez, she sees the importance of self-love, empowerment and education in the Black community on a daily basis. As a young leader she knows how to make an impact on her generation as well as older and younger generations.

Maria has carried out assignments for various art institutions, educational institutions and government organizations such as The Nationale Theater, The Hague University of Applied Sciences and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Besides, she works as a freelance trainer for companies and organizations such as AKQA and Het Landelijk Studenten Vakbond. As an ECHO Ambassador and LSVb committee member of the DI working group, she is also associated with various themes around diversity and inclusion in society.

This year, she will graduate from the European Studies bachelor program with a thesis on the use of artistic interventions to increase inclusive leadership. At the same time, she started her Master at DAS Creative Producing, and she is working as a project leader at The National Theatre.
