Gilad Ben Ari Ben Ari

Gilad Ben Ari trained at M.A.S.P.A, School of Performing Arts in Israel and at P.A.R.T.S. in Belgium. He worked with Ensemble Batsheva and took part in danceWEB at the Impulstanz festival in Vienna. He is a member of ‘Embassy of fast bicycles’, an umbrella organization of freelance dancers. Gilad has received financial backing by NRW Kultur sekretariat and Fabrik Potsdam for research and creation. Currently he is supported by Blumen, Künstlerresidenz in Leipzig (D).

that is my motivation. not as a negating act. as a will to create a space for a pause. to reconsider all the given organization systems for values. maybe they encompass the best humanity has found, maybe they encompass the worst (most probably the terms “best” and “worst” are dated). i wish for whatever systems that are used, to be chosen, and re-chosen, day and day again. they should prove their relevance each passing day.
i wish to look at the world around me, extracting from the reality i perceive the organizational systems i need to regulate it.
this is something i can identify in my practice and in my research as a human being functioning in a social fabric. i cannot separate it from my practice as an artist, i can only add to it the more specific threads i can identify in my artistic activity. threads that will again lead back to my ongoing research – how to live as a person amongst people.”
