Bita Bell
Bita Bell is a dance artist and composer with a BA in music composition and a MFA in dance. Born in Iran, she studied in Hong Kong and lived in the U.S. since 2012 until 2020 when she moved from New York City to Vienna.
Her process in both dance and music is based on auto-historia, fragmented memories, collective imaginations, visceral sensations, radical softness, and playful improvisations, while exposing, questioning, and subverting social-political matters that disrupt the joy in daily life.
Her artistic-activism is reflected in her work as a community organizer and teacher; such as leading the monthly BIPOC only contact improv jams in Vienna.
Her artistic research at THIRD is on contextualizing global solo feminist protest performances in the public space and exploring embodied writing, voicing, and listening.
