Teacher-Research Exploration: The Counter Perspectives
Deadline: 1 April 2025
The ATD Lectorate and Platform 2025 are excited to announce two short-term research opportunities for teachers of the ATD. This is a chance to step outside the dominant perspective of your discipline and investigate the counter perspective within your field. For example, a dramaturgy teacher might want to explore non-Western dramaturgy, or a dance teacher might examine queer movements in modern dance. The call is for short research projects designed to be completed within a limited time frame of 40-60 hours and will run from September through December 2025, with findings presented during the Research Month in January 2026.
What
We are seeking research proposals that:
- Investigate a counter perspective: Your project should allow you to move beyond the dominant perspective of your discipline to embrace new, alternative viewpoints.
- Embody a personal connection: Preference will be given to applicants who have a strong, personal affinity with the counter perspective they propose to explore.
- Offer innovative insights: Your research should provide fresh perspectives that can contribute to both your educational practice and the broader field.
Who
We invite applications from teachers who:
- Teacher of the ATD: You are a teacher at the ATD, who gives at least one class for one whole block every study year.
- Have a clear interest: You are enthusiastic about investigating an alternative perspective within your discipline.
- Are willing to experiment: You’re ready to undertake a short, intensive research project (40-60 hours) during the specified period.
- Interested in research: Your project should reflect a desire to bridge gaps between traditional disciplinary boundaries and introduce novel insights into your practice by doing research
