Visit to the construction site - 8 December

On Thursday 8 December, the students, pupils and staff of the Dutch National Ballet Academy took a look at the construction site of the NBA's new building. The no less than 170 Dutch and international young dancers of the NBA were introduced to their new home and given a tour.

The chairman of the AHK Board of Governors, Bert Verveld and director of the Academy of Theatre and Dance Anthony Heidweiller both gave speeches. Artisitic director of the Dutch National Ballet Ted Brandsen and deputy artistic director Rachel Beaujean were also present at this festive gathering.

The students and pupils took a look at a studio and the Theatre Studio, where future dance performances will take place. The contours of the stairwell and central hall were also already clearly visible. By means of special renders placed in the building, the visitors got an impression of what the building can eventually look like in real.

Atmospheric impressions of the building

The interior design of the building is still under development. We hope that the spaces will become as beautiful, as seen below on the atmospheric impressions. In order to realize this dream, the AHK will organize fundraising activities. More information will follow soon.

All students and pupils posed at the construction site in what will soon be the Theatre Studio, and enjoyed a delicious cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream, Christmas cake and pea soup.

The new building project of the National Ballet Academy on Nicolaas Tetterodestraat in Amsterdam-Overamstel is still in full swing and is well on schedule. The final shape the building will take is visible and the highest point has been reached.  The floor heating is already being laid and even windows have been installed in the building. The building is scheduled to open at the beginning of the new academic year 2023/2024.
