With great sadness, we have learned of the passing of our former artist-in-residence, Vesna Petrešin.

Vesna studied architecture at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana, graduating in the mid-1990s. She later completed a postgraduate degree in art and design at the Royal College of Art in London.

As a transdisciplinary artist and thinker, she worked with the Master of Film, IDlab, the VR Academy, and the scenography program. Vesna was a pioneer in immersive media and its perceptual dimensions, earning the deep respect of her students and colleagues. In her performances and installations, she explored space and time, light and sound, projection and text, rhythm and data. For Vesna, there was no boundary between art, science, and technology. She passionately investigated the immersive potentials of AR, VR, XR, and AI in the arts. At the Master of Film, IDlab and the VRacademy she was a guiding force - encouraging students to seek multisensory experiences, foster social connection, and reflect critically on our existence.

Water and air, the earth and the cosmos were enduring themes in her work - sources of both inspiration and inquiry.

We are deeply grateful for Vesna - for her radiant presence, and for her cosmotechnical vision of the future of the arts.
