Planning to launch a solo or collaborative project? Sounds exciting. But how should you go about it? What’s the best approach to creating a solid project plan? Have you already got the finances in place for the initial phase? What types of funding are available? How should you go about communicating with your potential audience or client? And how do you convince important decision-makers such as event programmers and gatekeepers that your project deserves their interest? Learn all about it in this module.

Class 1 | Writing a project plan
Tuesday 5 January 2021. 19:00-21:30, by Wendy van Os
You’ll need to be able to clearly articulate your idea, get people on board with your plan—and avoid get tongue-tied. The time’s come to roll up your sleeves and get to work! In this session we’ll focus on the building blocks of a good plan. Find out the most important issues you need to resolve. Use your project plan to structure your ideas and start applying to funding organisations.

Class 2 | Fundraising and the financial mix
Tuesday 12 January 2021, 19:00-21:30, by Simone van Bennekom
Selling tickets to your audience is one way of covering costs – but what if these revenues aren’t enough? What are the alternative ways of financing your project? How about trying crowdfunding, friending systems and sponsorship? Funding organisations can also co-finance your project. What are the written and unwritten rules that will increase your chances of getting financed?

Class 3 | Communicating with your audience
Tuesday 19 January 2021, 19:00-21:30, teacher to be announced
Your art comes about through a creative process, and communicating with your audience is an extension of that creative process. Marketing is increasingly about perception and the imagination, so that’s what we’re going to explore in-depth in this class. You’ll find out how to better understand your target groups by putting yourself in their place. Learn how to manage their expectations, and use communications to intensify their experience.

Class 4 | Inside the minds of the key figures: the intermediaries and gatekeepers
Tuesday 26 January 2021, 19:00-21:30, by Wendy van Os
What’s the best way of promoting yourself and your project to the key decision-makers in your field? How do you get booked? What’s the best way to approach the programmer? What can you do to make sure your project gets reviewed? How do you get in touch with the people that matter? In this class a variety of key figures will talk about what’s important to them. The inside information they provide will give you the edge to boost your project. Unique and insightful glimpse behind the scenes!
