Garden gathering: My garden’s boundaries are the horizon

Monday 23.06.25
18:00 - 20:00
location: rooftop garden, Academy of Theatre and Dance, Jodenbreestraat 3
The garden above the school is a gathering point for humans and more-than-humans. Meeting in gardens here and elsewhere, imaginary and real, are Martín La Roche Contreras, Arefeh Riahi and Maartje Fliervoet: an artist’s collective called “To See the Inability to See”. On the 23rd of June, they will share their multidirectional book/object “My garden’s boundaries are the horizon” in the rooftop garden of the Academy - their voices joining in a stream of writing and reading, caught in the torrents of the Women’s uprising in Iran, flowing between bodies, borders, boundaries, welling up from Persian gardening traditions and personal story.
Their reading will take us through this event and through the garden, inviting us into flows of listening and gardening work: After weeks of drought, and with the hottest time of the year still ahead, we will be collectively setting up an irrigation system for the plants on the rooftop: a steady trickle of water to nourish the garden whose boundaries are the horizon.
Be with us on this sun-filled evening, have some herbal tea from the garden, engage with the beautiful project that is “My garden’s boundaries are the horizon”, and support the rooftop garden’s thriving through the dry summer months.
Timeline:
18:00 tea and trickling in
18:15-19:00 performative reading of “My garden’s boundaries are the horizon”
19:15-20:00 collective setting up of an irrigation/watering system for the garden
To join, please sign up here. Pass the invitation to your friends and fellow gardeners, and we are looking forward to being with you!
