Mini Fieldings Forum, January 2022

On Friday 28th January 2022 from 4-7pm THIRD will organize a Mini Fieldings Forum. We proudly invite you to join an online programme around the recently published book on artistic research Fieldings – Propositions for 3rd Cycle Research in the Performing Arts. Together with Koleka Putuma, Erin Manning, Florian Dombois and Rosie Heinrich we will discuss questions and share examples of publishing artistic practices and publishing as an artistic practice in a round table conversation. Jennifer Lacey is invited to do a reading. Her portrayals of the first THIRD cohort in Fieldings are born from her longtime oracular, expanded hermeneutic practice.

About the guests

Manning's research spans the fields of art, political theory, and philosophy. She is a professor in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Concordia University (Montreal, Canada) and the founder of SenseLab (www.senselab.ca), a laboratory that explores the intersections between art practice and philosophy through the matrix of the sensing body in movement.

Koleka Putuma is an award-winning theatre practitioner, writer and poet. Her bestselling debut collection of poems Collective Amnesia took the South African literary scene by storm. Koleka Putuma is the Founder and Director of Manyano Media, a multidisciplinary creative company that empowers and produces stories and works by black queer women.

Ilse van Rijn is a writer and art historian. Her research practice concentrates on the position and operative force of writing in/as art and its relationships with feminist approaches. Ilse is a tutor at THIRD and the moderator of the panel discussion.

About THIRD

THIRD is a unique facilitating model designed as a three-year trajectory for small-scale research cohorts. Preparing transdisciplinary practitioners from across the performing arts towards 3rd cycle research opportunities, THIRD explores shared processes of peer support and feedback. By sharpening and refining the long-term aspirations of each fellow’s artistic research proposition, potential academic affiliations and funding possibilities come into focus. The cohort environment generates collective experiment through reflective and diffractive attention, affecting, with ease and rigour, the praxis of practice in artistic research.
