Training for Excellence (T4X) is a new study to be started looking into how high-quality practice methods can be translated and used with added value in the practice of sport, dance and music.
Project
Structurally belonging among the top 10 best sports countries in the world. That is the ambition of the Netherlands. We also want to compete with the world top in the performing arts such as music and dance. However, the Netherlands remains a small country with limited resources. That is why the Training for Excellence research project focuses on developing high-quality training courses. Objective: achieve the maximum efficiency with less money and fewer hours.
Objective
The research team of Training for Excellence wants to raise the quality of training in sports, music and dance to a higher level on a structural and national level by introducing and evaluating scientifically based practice methods.
Method
For each domain (sports, dance and music) the research team develops training interventions based on smart and promising practice methods, supported by scientific research.
Smart practice methods
• purposeful practice
• stimulate an external focus of attention
• designing the training environment
The research takes place in unique Living Labs where athletes, musicians and dancers are examined in their own training and performance environment.
We are currently part of the T4X consortium as ATD and we are looking into how we can participate.
