> UNBOUND <
Is a sonic-spatial performance that works as a concert or a journey, revolving around motifs of displacement, vital reconnection and life-sustaining musicality. Making present the persistence of struggle of a past-present-in-crisis, the performance investigates the transformative and emancipatory potential of anticolonial poetry, asking how a practice of fugitivity, subversion and remembrance feels like, moves like, sounds like.
Embracing the physical and spatial dynamics of the sonic experience, this project extends the affordances of a live radio broadcast into a social-sonic choreography, inviting the listener to a sensory surround of acoustic and psychoacoustics in the public space.
While composing for two simultaneous spaces – the binaurality of a radio broadcast and the black box theater- spoken word, live electronics, inaudible frequencies and rhythmical dimensions of noise, mixes through-out the listener body, operating as a sound that lures into reconfigurations of the senses, spacetime & his/tory, (un)worlding stories of a past, from which anticipatory listening unfolds.
This performance is part of a larger research trajectory that has been carrying foreground sounds, silences and noise, as carriers of a poetic-political argument with the potential of expanding, subverting and dislocating the linearity of space, time and language.
