Cultural Resistance Workshop

Gepubliceerd op

The Prince Claus Fund and Theatre Hotel Courage are pleased to invite teachers and students of de Theaterschool to a workshop with members of the Freedom Theatre from Palestine on Wednesday 6 May 2015 at de Theaterschool in Amsterdam.

In Palestine, the threat of imprisonment, death and destruction are part of life and the legacy of decades under occupation. But in the Palestinian refugee camp of Jenin, The Freedom Theatre’s response to instability and violence is creativity. It is not only an outstanding Theatre School but also cultural centre developing a vibrant artistic community to empower its residents and explore the potential of the arts as a catalyst for social change.

The workshop, led by Katrien van Beurden (artistic director of Theatre Hotel Courage) and members of the Freedom Theatre, focuses on the work of the Freedom Theatre and what it means to use culture as a form of resistance.

The workshop is open for teachers and students of de Theaterschool. Send an e-mail to: d.jaring@princeclausfund.nl
