DESCRIPTION
In the second iteration of this conversation-workshop series led by In Pursuit of Otherwise Possibilities (IPOP), we will be asking ourselves and fellow educators: How to design our respective pedagogies in a queer way? Through supplementary reading of an essay by Kate Morales and prompts for a discussion, we want to bring up to the table a number of perspectives on artistic education and look at them from a queer lens. How are we dealing with the “normal”? What kinds of futures does our education make possible for queer people? How are we making space for queer temporalities and becoming in our teaching environments? Do we practice “the erotic” as Audre Lorde would call it and how? How are queer histories and practices part of the curriculum? What does notions of power, empire and decolonization have to do with the education we offer?

This workshop is meant for sharing practices and methodologies among people supporting the development of LGBTQ+ artists and their work across disciplines. We are interested to reflect together on pedagogical aspects of our work in relation to queerness and sharing best practices among fellow educators.

All are welcome. No experience or familiarity with queerness necessary.
Snacks, tea and coffee are provided. Participation in the workshop is not reimbursed.
